Festival de la Vendimia, Santa Cruz, Colchagua Valley

Santa Cruz's huge Festival de la Vendimia (grape harvest festival) is coming up on the 4th to the 6th of March. It's a 3 day extravaganza of food and wine, kind of like a half dieciocho. I can't wait.

It'll be my first- I would have missed last year's due to a trip home to a friend's wedding, but those plans were scuppered by the small matter of a giant earthquake...

There is a slight problem this year as well... the traffic is going to be a disaster. Apparently, it's usually terrible but this year, the council hasn't got around to repaving one of the main streets coming off the Plaza de Armas. This despite starting 6 weeks ago- they dug it all up and then stopped working on it 3 weeks ago. It's going to be a horrible nightmare for everyone trying to get around in their car and it's going to reflect very poorly on Santa Cruz, which is the last thing we want.

And for a hilarious one minute video of Chilean DIY, you really need to watch this...
