My grapes are almost ready...in fact, some are already perfectly edible and the rest will be good to go in a couple of weeks. I have 4 varieties of grapes, 1 red table grape, 1 red wine grape (but no one has any idea what kind) and 2 white table grapes.
Last year, I harvested 60 kilos, made litres and litres of juice and then promptly lost it all a week later when the earthquake came along and put my freezer out of action for a week...I also composted at least another 60 kilos of grapes, probably more, I just couldn't eat.
After a fairly brutal Winter pruning, the vines will probably only produce around 50 kilos this year, which I'm more than happy with. I felt bad throwing away so many last year.
