Group Blog...Dodgy Menus

Last year I went to Colombia (and here)...such an incredible country- good food, lovely people, interesting architecture, fantastic nightlife, beaches, colonial cities and...some rather poor menu translations.

Just check out the photos from the beach resort of Taganga...everything is horribly and entertainingly wrong:

Spanish:

English?

Loin of beast! Maybe they attacked and killed the beast with garlic?

Spanish:

English?

English?

Who doesn't enjoy a nice meal with a Frenchman?

Spanish...

English?

And then in January of this year, I went to Ecuador. The menus weren't so bad, but surely us$26.80 for a bottle of Gato Negro is worse than anything google translate can produce...

For more dodgy menu fun, check out the list of other bloggers who've posted here...

  1. Let's see... I'd like a loin of beast with dads to the french, and a bit of sailor's blouse on the side please!
This is classic Matt-love it!! But seriously--this was PRINTED like this? I don't think even a machine can translate that badly!

  2. Looks like they couldn't make up their minds between "dads to the French" and "dads on the French"! Here's to French "dads"!

  3. That first menu has to be the best lost in translation I've ever seen.

  4. I love the bad English translations! They crack me up. I would have taken pictures, too. I like the beast attacked with garlic. What was it, a hunk of vampire?
